Train ride will last approximately 1.5 hours; departing Steamtown at 9:30 a.m. and arriving to Carbondale at 11 a.m. There will be a 2.5 hour layover at the Carbondale Station for the event. Returning train ride will last approximately 1.5 hours; departing Carbondale at 1:30 p.m. and arriving to Steamtown at 3 p.m.
Get in the fall spirit and welcome harvest season by taking a scenic ride to Carbondale for their Autumn Market. Light food and refreshments will be available for purchase.
Carbondale Station Description and Details
Take a scenic train ride through the Lackawanna Valley along the old Delaware & Hudson Railroad tracks to Carbondale, PA.
History: Carbondale’s present-day train station was built on the site of the Delaware and Hudson Seventh Avenue train station that was opened on February 1, 1896. Local and express trains, both north and south, from Carbondale arrived and departed from Carbondale on a daily basis. In the 1950s, as many as fifteen passenger trains departed daily from this station for Scranton.
